This term, our context will be ‘Day and Night’, which will have a specific focus on day and night, light sources, and nocturnal animals. Within this context, we will be exploring the questions that the children have come up with so far:
How does it get dark?
Why do the stars disappear in the morning?
Why do people go to sleep when it is night?
Why do we even have day and night?
Why do we have summer?
Why do some animals like bats only come out at night?
For more specific information on the skills that will be taught this term, please visit our class page on the school website where you will find a copy of our new term Inquiry Planning for this half term. Keep your eyes peeled for a ‘picnic on the moon’ that the children will be planning to celebrate the end of our learning. Families and carers of children in our class will be invited.
All our planning will be based around the Six Area of Learning Experience and the Four Core Purposes. Take a look at the Inquiry Planning for this half term, showing the pupils learning journey.
Check back to find out who is VIP this week!
Homework will be placed on Google Classroom every Friday. Please submit all homework by
the following Wednesday so we are able to look at your wonderful work and send this back
Each week, children will be asked to complete either a piece of numeracy or literacy
based homework which will alternate from week to week. There will also be a termly
homework grid sent out based on our topic. Children may do as many homework tasks as
they like over the course of the term. Please see below for this terms homework
grid. Children are allowed to complete their homework in whichever format they wish
to choose. E.g hwb, PowerPoint, on paper, videos etc.
Weekly spellings and Phonics sounds will also be taught in class and given to the children to practise at home.
The children will be rewarded for completing their homework by receiving dojos!
Below is a homework grid that you can use at home to complete some fun and independent
activities linked to our current topic. Please don't hesitate to share any of your wonderful
work with us. Diolch!
If you have any questions regarding homework, then please do not hesitate to contact us via our Year 1 email address.
We look forward to welcoming you back and working together with you and your children this year. If you ever have and queries or questions, please contact us on our school email address email@example.com
Value - Thankfulness
Christians believe that God loves and cares for them in many different ways in all aspects of their life. They know their response to this provision should be one of thankfulness and praise. We will be using songs, hymn, bible stories etc to help the children realise the importance of saying and most importantly feeling thankful.
Please take time to look at our Home School Values sheet as this helps you to explore values and have fun together.
Meet the teacher!
