All children will need their HWB log in to access our Home Learning Online Classroom. Your child should have brought these home.
In the unexpected case of a school or class closure, we will use Google for Education classrooms to deliver blended learning. Please login to Hwb using your child's details then go to Google for Education. Here are step by step instructions.
Go to https://hwb.gov.wales/ then click log in
Enter your child's login details
From the menu, choose Google for education (you may need to enter the Hwb username again)
Click the + sign to the right
Then click 'join class'
Enter the class code: 3di6bg7
This Hwb class will be used for a mixture of home and school based activities, and will be used again if another unplanned school closure is required.
Please email year4@stdavidsprm.cardiff.sch.uk if you cannot remember the password so I can send a reminder, or if the log in details are compromised so that I can reset the password.
Our topic for this half term is 'Eco Warriors' with a focus on becoming 'ethical, informed citizens'. The future of the planet is in our hands and we will be learning about what we can do as 'Eco Warriors' to help the Earth. We will learn from famous activists such as David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg about ways to tackle global warming and how to reduce our carbon footprint.
There will be regular updates of the children's work on this web page and our school twitter.
Each week, you will find the planning for Year 4's learning online, just in case you need to access it from home.
Planning
Weekly homework will be sent out each Friday on Google Classroom and will be due in the following Tuesday. Each week, they will be asked to complete either a piece of numeracy or literacy based homework which will alternate from week to week. There will also be a termly homework grid sent out based on our topic. Children may do as many homework tasks as they like over the course of the term. Please see below for this terms homework grid. Children are allowed to complete their homework in whichever format they wish to choose. E.g hwb, PowerPoint, homework book, posters, etc.
Weekly spellings will also be taught in class and given to the children to practise at home.
The children will be rewarded for completing their homework by receiving dojos!
Reading is an extremely important part of your child's learning. We will take every opportunity to try and listen to your child read throughout the week, therefore, we would kindly ask that you ensure your child's reading book and diary are returned to school and are available on a daily basis. Pupils will also take part in group guided reading sessions everyday, where we will look at specific reading skills. Please try and support your child in reading every evening, encouraging them to read aloud and to complete their reading record each time they read. Diolch yn fawr!
