Mrs Alyson Underhill Jones
Originally from Pentwyn (I attended Nursery at St. David’s CIW) I grew up in Sully and Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan before moving to Bridgend 13 years ago. I completed my teaching degree at UWIC in Cardiff and have worked in various schools across Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, Rhonnda Cynon Taff and Bridgend. I am enthusiastic and passionate about working at St David’s CIW and am excited to help the children reach their full potential. My roles and responsibilities at St David’s along with being the Year 3 teacher is to develop the children’s Health and Wellbeing. I run the Eco council and School Council along with helping the school become a Rights Respecting School. I am very busy with my daughter (who is 10) outside of school and enjoy helping her look after her pony called Daisy. I am very much looking forward to starting the new school year joining the amazing team at St David’s and becoming the Year 4 teacher! I completed my teaching degree at the University of South Wales and I have gained lots of experience working in different schools across the primary phase through various supply work. This will be my first class and I am very excited to see what the year ahead brings! I am very passionate about giving young children the best possible education in life through high quality teaching and learning experiences! My roles and responsibilities at St David’s include supporting Miss Underhill-Jones to develop the children's Health and Wellbeing and running afterschool Health and Fitness clubs. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going for long walks and attending the gym and reading a good book!
Year 5 Class Teacher
Mr Scott Norman
Originally from the beautiful location of North Devon, I moved to Cardiff in 2009 to complete my degree and teacher training. After securing my first job in the West Midlands, I couldn't wait to return to Cardiff (which I now think of as home) so thankfully two years later, I joined the team here at St Davids (my second home!) in 2016 as a Key Stage 2 teacher. I am proud to bring a calm, organised and patient personality to the classroom and I wouldn't dream of doing any other job. I enjoy working with the children on their journey to become ambitious and confident learners ready to fulfil their lives in an ever-changing and increasingly digital world. As well as teaching in Year 5, my other responsibilities include leading in ICT/Digital Competence Framework and Science & Technology, as well as overseeing online communication platforms (Twitter, Schoop and this website).
Year 6 Class Teacher
Mr Scott Morgan
Shw'mae! I am ecstatic to be joining such wonderful school this year! Originally from Carmarthenshire, I'm a fluent Welsh speaker and see it as a goal in my career to inspire and motivate pupils, staff and the wider community to learn the language. I began my teaching career in Newport after completing my PGCE at Swansea Metropolitan University. Over the last 6 years, I have taught in two schools in Newport working across KS2, leading mathematics and Welsh second language development.
Outside of school, I am a keen runner, racing in many 10K and half marathon races each year. Also, I love taking my dog on adventures around Wales! I am delighted to be leading the KS2 team this year and look forward to leading the implementation of the New Curriculum for Wales at St David's. I very much look forward to an exciting year ahead!
