Values for Life

Here at St David's CIW Primary School, we recognise the significant influence that a school and individual teachers have on developing our pupils morals and values. As a result, we  provide a values based curriculum.

As a school we promote and teach a set of values to our pupils that will ensure they develop the skills to be good citizens in the future.

We support our curriculum with a set of principles (values) that are woven into teaching and learning in order to develop improved social and emotional skills that will positively affect behaviour.

There are currently eighteen Values for Life; as a school we focus on six values each academic year.

Our Value this term is :

The Bible teaches that life is a gift from God and it is our responsibility to use our talents and abilities in the best way we can.

Reflecting as a whole school community we will be considering some questions:

  •  How are pupils encouraged to act responsibly in the classroom?
  •  Is there a whole school policy regarding responsibility for the environment?
  •  How much responsibility is the school council given to implement the decisions it makes?
  •  Are pupils encouraged to think about where responsibility lies for ethical issues that they encounter?
  •  Do pupils understand that attainment in classroom tasks lies not only with the teacher but also with the individual?
